Synopsis:
Suffering from an incurable disease, sixty-year-old Fathi comes
back to the village after 20 years. He hopes to find his wife
and ask for her forgiveness, because according to a Hadith (a
saying by Prophet Mohammad) if 40 believers witness somebody’s
honesty, God forgives his sins after his death and his wife is
destined to be the first witnesses.
Director’s
View:
The film
deals with forgiveness thematically: a global and humanistic
theme, a common concept in all religions and relieving
experiences for anyone. If there is more emphasis on spiritual
issues this time, it’s simple because I’m living in Iran and my
beliefs are rooted here. I can feel that some elements appear in
the film from my unconsciousness.
